Professor Claire Smith is a Professor of Anatomy and Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Innovation at the University of Sussex. She is a world-leading expert in anatomy education, with over a hundred publications in the field and several anatomy textbooks. An award-winning innovator and educator, her passion is to understand how students learn anatomy and how to improve body donation and access to anatomy. In 2024, Professor Smith was appointed as the Inspector of Anatomy for Ireland, a prestigious role that reflects her significant contributions to the field. Beyond her academic and administrative roles, Professor Smith has been involved in pioneering public engagement projects. Notably led the anatomical dissection featured in the Channel 4 documentary "My Dead Body," which provided unique insights into the progression of cancer through the human body.  Her dedication to advancing anatomy education and her innovative approach to teaching have made Professor Smith a prominent figure in medical education.
